your rights during a delayed flight

no compensation during air traffic control (ATC) restrictions

You are unfortunately not eligible to compensation from the airline for lost time when your flight is delayed due to air traffic control (ATC) restrictions. This is considered an extraordinary circumstance in accordance to EC 261/04 which is beyond the control of the airline.

but you have right to care

This includes the airline taking care of you until you reach your final destination, if you are delayed more than 2 hours to the final destination. This applies regardless if the flight is delayed or cancelled and even if the reason for the delay/ cancellation is beyond the control of the airline (e.g. bad weather).

  • hotel costs due to prolonged stay (if delayed overnight)
  • additional transport to and from airport/ hotel (during prolonged stay)
  • meals
  • 2 phone calls home

no compensation during bad weather

You are unfortunately not eligible to compensation from the airline for lost time when your flight is delayed due to bad weather. This is considered an extraordinary circumstance in accordance to EC 261/04 which is beyond the control of the airline.
